Real Dice Roll is a useful app to have in a maths classroom because it allows the children to use a lot of dice without having to physically hold them. The dice come in different sizes and colours as well so you can tailor the lesson to benefit specific children or groups.
What The Children Do:
Children are given a blank board and can roll either a 4-sided, 6-sided, 8-sided, 10-sided, 12-sided, or 20-sided dice on that board. Children can also roll a mixture of the dice (all different colours) or roll multiple versions of the same dice.
It’s a good tool to have when asking children to generate their own numbers because they don’t have to have a lot of equipment on the desk and the different sized dice allows you to differentiate the activity.
How It Works:
To roll the dice, children simply tap the number at the bottom and then the dice will roll onto the board. Children can click the eye icon to see a birds eye view of the board or press the broom to clear it.
It’s really easy to use and the children will be able to work independently.
Why It’s Good:
As I’ve said, you can differentiate activities using this app and it’s also useful to have because you don’t need a lot of equipment on the table. The different size of dice is also useful because not every classroom will have dice this size.
