As an introduction to role playing or as an activity to entertain and inform EYFS children, Swapsies Jobs is a great tool to have in the classroom. It’s a lot of fun for younger children and can help them develop their imaginations as well as their computer skills.
What The Children Do:
Children are given a selection of hats, trousers and tops to make a uniform from. Among the possible uniforms are firemen, policemen, astronauts and doctors. Once they’ve managed to put a uniform together, they can then play a game associated with that profession i.e. moving a hose to put a forest fire out or picking a criminal out of a lineup.
It’s a good way to help children understand how people such as policemen dress and what they do.
How It Works:
It’s very easy to use as children scroll through the different clothing options using their finger and just use their finger to complete the quizzes.
Why It’s Good:
The app is very child-friendly as the characters are all cartoonish and over-the-top which can help make it appealing to children. I also like the fact that the children can select either a male or female character to dress-up as this will make it appeal to a wider range of people.
It’s a great way to inspire children with their role playing and to help develop their imagination.
